Five playlets

Jean McConnell has written five twist-in-the-tail playlets, all set on a seaside promenade – that are by turns funny and poignant. These delightful plays run for approximately fifteen minutes each, and are all set in the present.

Shoppers is a comedy and is about two well-to-do shopaholics who have a rather surprising secret.

Early Blight is a drama. It is a heart-breaking exploration of a doomed mother/daughter relationship.

Director: Kathy Hickson

Dancers is a comedy. It wittily dissects the tea dancing world of two skittish women.

Director: Lisa Blair

Late Frost is a drama in which a woman finds out her best friend had an affair with her late husband.

Director: Alice Rea

Doggies is a comedy. An hilarious tale about two very different types of dog-owner.

Director: Kevin Blair

Evening: Friday 16, Saturday 17, Friday 23, and Saturday 24 June 2017 at 7:30pm.
Matinees: Sunday 18 and Saturday 24 June at 2:00pm.

Shoppers

Director: Alice Rea

Characters: Rosemary – middle aged and smart. Angela – also middle aged and well dressed and wears pretty ear-rings.

Early Blight

Director: Kathy Hickson

Characters: Helen – an elderly woman, could be 80 +. June – Helen’s daughter: she is also elderly, say 60 +.

Dancers

Director: Lisa Blair

Characters: Wynn: 40+ dressed up for tea-dancing. Betty: 40+ also dressed up for tea-dancing. She wears a low cut dress.

Late Frost

Director: Alice Rea

Characters: Pamela – middle aged with sunglasses and light clothes. Kate: – middle aged also with sunglasses and light clothes (they will remove sunglasses eventually).

Doggies

Director: Kevin Blair

Characters: Two dog owners

Rehearsals: Generally Monday and Thursday evenings, but as agreed with each director

Performances: 16, 17, 23, 24 June 2017 at 7:30pm. Matinees: 18, 24 June at 2:00pm.

2017 Annual General Meeting

  • All current members of the Committee shall retire from office, and are eligible for re-election.
  • BATS Theatre Company Inc. is looking for nominations for the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Committee Members.
  • We would very much welcome some new people to the committee with fresh ideas and energy.
  • We would also love to have on board a Grants Officer, Publicity Officer and Sponsorship Officer. These do not have to be Committee positions.

In order to be eligible to nominate, you need to be a financial member for 2017

Nominations must be received by close of business 14 days prior to the A.G.M.,  in this case being Wednesday 10th May, 2017.

The business to be transacted at every Annual General Meeting shall be;
(i) the receiving of the Committee’s report and the balance sheet and statement of accounts for the preceding financial year.
(ii) the receiving of the auditor’s report upon the books and accounts for the preceding financial year.
(iii) The election of members of the Committee
(iv) the appointment of an auditor


Committee Meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7.30 p.m.

All positions are up for grabs, so please give it some thought.

At the time of nomination all nominees, proposers and seconders must be financial members approved by the committee.
