BATS THEATRE COMPANY INC. are holding auditions for performance of the three finalists in the Edythe Brook Cooper Playwriting Competition, 2020 One Act Plays, as below:

- PLAY ONE
WOULDN’T IT BE NICE, BY SUE SEWELL, QUEENSLAND
DIRECTED BY KATHY HICKSON (BLACK COMEDY)
Mum denies her gambling addiction; “Everyone has a little flutter”, she says. Although her daughters point out the futility of thinking she will get rich one day, Mum is determined to ‘show ‘em’, even though her behaviour is having devasting effects on herself and her family.
CHARACTERS: (4 females)
Abbie, Bella and Crystal – sisters aged between 20 and 40 years of age.
Mum, age to suit her three daughters, as above.

DIRECTED BY ALICE REA (DRAMA)
Robert, an American soldier met Sarah while he trained at radar school in a Queensland coastal town. He visits her before he is shipped home.

ASHES TO DUST, YVETTE WALL, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
DIRECTED BY DAVID WILSON (COMEDY)
CHARACTERS: (2 females, 2 males)
Catherine, late twenties
Lydia, late fifties
Dhavit, 40 to 60 years of age (perhaps of Indian heritage)
Kevin, late twenties
Lydia, a recent widow brings home a suitor, before her late Husband’s ashes are laid to rest, much to her daughter’s (Catherine) dismay. Meanwhile, Kevin, Catherine’s husband is preoccupied with the cricket.
