Drama written by Willy Russell
Directed by Catherine Steer

Blood Brothers is a compelling story of friendship, loyalty and fate. The Johnstone twins, born into poverty in the 1950’s are separated at birth when their mother cannot afford to keep them both. Mickey and Edward grow up streets apart, becoming best friends but never knowing the truth of their heritage. They bond as blood brothers but when they both fall in love with the same girl this causes a tear in their friendship.

Originally written as a play by Willy Russell (Educating Rita, Shirley Valentine) in 1981, Blood Brothers was developed as a musical in 1983 and became the third longest-running musical production in London West End history.

The staggeringly emotional climax of the play questions whether it was destiny, or the inevitable difference of class, that led to the conflict of two brothers who were once so close.

#NOTE: This is the play version, not the musical.
