CROWN MATRIMONIAL
Directed by Kennedy Fox
Written by Royce Ryton
The play focuses on the crisis that faced the nation when Edward VIII declared his deep love for Wallis Simpson. Unswayed by the prospect of public scandal, family upheaval and even abdication, he is insistent that he will marry the women he loves. The play is set in 1936, in Queen Mary's private sitting room at Marlborough House. This insight into the domestic life of the Royal Family shows the volatile relationship between Queen Mary and her son caused by his love affair, and mirrors the other great royal constitutional crisis portrayed in the film The Queen
Cast required: 4 males 5 females

Princess Mary- The Princess Royal. In her late 30's. Supports her mother dutifully in all things. Female 25-45
The Duchess of York (Elizabeth) 36 years old. Formerly Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. She is now quite used to being royalty and normally quite extrodinarily charming. This role was played by Helena Bonham-Carter in "The King's Speech". Female 25-45
