Arthur Birling – 50’s – Patriarch of the Birling family who owns a profitable manufacturing company.

Sybil Birling – Married to Arthur

Sheila Birling – 20’s – daughter of Arthur and Sybil

Eric Birling – older brother of Sheila

Gerald Croft – fiancé of Sheila and son of the owner of another manufacturing company.

Inspector Goole – 40’s plus – A representative of the local police force sent to investigate a suicide.

Edna – the Birlings’ maid.
